Pop Up Advocacy coming to Burnley Town Centre on Friday 28th July On Friday 28th July, we will be in Burnley town centre on St James St, Chancery Walk, between 11am and 2pm. Our fully-trained advocates will be informing, supporting and educating the people of Burnley on our advocacy services. Here at Advocacy Focus, we support individuals with mental health and social care needs across Lancashire. Our service is completely independent from local authorities and the NHS, which means that we are not biased and we work for the individual. What will we be doing? The aims of our Pop Up Advocacy events are to raise awareness of our free advocacy services, inform people of their rights, provide referrals for our service if needed, provide self-help packs for complaints and sign post to drops-ins or alternative health and social care services if needed. Our specialist advocates will be there to answer questions from the public to help ‘demystify’ advocacy and inform people how they can benefit from our services. Who are we? Advocacy Focus is an award-wining, advocacy service that has been delivering independent advocacy across Lancashire since 1998. Our specialist service supports a wide range of individuals with varying health and social care needs. We are experienced in working with people with mental health needs, learning disabilities, dementia, individuals that lack capacity or have ‘substantial difficulty’ being involved in decision making and we also work directly with carers.
