Hyndburn Business Awards 2017

We are pleased to have been nominated as finalists in the ‘Large Business (20+ employees) category in the 2017 Hyndburn Business Awards.

Hyndburn Business Awards 2017 is organised by Enterprising People, in association with many local businesses and organisations and aims to recognise and celebrate the enterprising people and businesses that make Hyndburn such a wonderful place to live, work and visit.

We appreciate the nomination as it is testament to our special team of 42 staff and volunteers. What makes us different is that each individual is passionate and committed that work tirelessly to protect people’s rights and quality of life in Hyndburn and the North West.

Advocacy is all that we do.  We haven’t diversified or attempted to deliver a range of services, we have instead focused on providing the best possible advocacy service we can, with a real focus on the individual and a keen eye on our legislative duties.  Our experience, skills and focus in singularly providing Advocacy services, across a range of statutory duties, will continue to result in a true focus on the individual.

We recruit staff on the basis of their experience, qualifications and personal qualities. We have a comprehensive, well-developed staff training policy and strategy that allows us to ensure staff competence within our multi-skilled advocacy team. This includes having a dedicated training budget, delivering regular in-house training, sourcing external training and maintaining comprehensive training records.

Justine Hodgkinson, CEO of Advocacy Focus said,

Our team deal with complex and challenging cases with the most vulnerable members of society. End of life cases, serious medical treatment and changes of accommodation require our team to be confident, assertive and resilient, however they also have to be caring and committed to the client and ultimately achieve a positive end result.  Without our team, we wouldn’t be the service we are.

The awards ceremony was held on the June 13th 2017 in Accrington’s Town Hall.
